MoveStudio Charlotte: My First Pilates Class Review

I am not big on going to the gym. I like working out, but the gym honestly gives me anxiety and if you know me, this probably sounds like a broken record. However, I’m about to play you a hot new tune (puny I know) because since I’m always looking for a way to stay active in the Queen City, I stumbled upon MoveStudio Charlotte.

About MoveStudio Charlotte

MoveStudio Charlotte seeks to promote the joy of movement through high-quality instruction, community classes, and special events. The owner April opened up the studio originally to teach her two younger children (who are a delight by the way) and then it grew into teaching both youth and adult students. MoveStudio Charlotte provides a safe space for all dancers, fitness instructors, students, and artists to hone their craft. Some classes they offer include hip-hop, ballet, acro, pilates, creative movement, and jazz to name a few. Thanks to MoveStudio Charlotte, I was able to try out a class to review for all of you. This time around, I tried out an adult Pilate class.

The Lex Paige Review

I can confidently say the moment I walked in the door at MoveStudio Charlotte I was welcomed with open arms. The teachers, guests, and owner April were all very kind and made me feel like less of a Pilate’s newbie. My Pilates class was held in one of the two rooms the studio currently has and included myself with a few other students.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the class, but to be quite honest, Pilate’s to me felt like a more intense version of yoga. During the class, we used a resistance ring and did a lot of movements that focused on strengthening our cores. I really enjoyed the constant movement during the class and how comfortable the instructor and MoveStudio Charlotte owner April made me feel. She always had positive encouragement and helped me keep my ever-popping shoulders down to get the best workout possible.

Overall, my hour Pilates class at MoveStudio Charlotte had me feeling the burn and I would certainly do it again. I didn’t feel like I couldn’t keep up and I must say the rock music made powering through easier. I would 100% recommend signing yourself up for one of their classes especially the Pilates class if you are looking for a challenge.

MoveStudio Charlotte is a perfect place to get your body moving, meet new people and most importantly have fun. Currently, the studio is located on Hawthorne Lane but will be moving soon to a new location off Monroe Road come June. Stay tuned for my next blog on one of MoveStudio Charlotte’s adult dance classes and remember to keep that body healthy in 2020. With Love,

Lex Paige
