Since 2019, we have been going, and what started as a homemade haunt built by 15-year-olds in 1985 has grown into one of North Carolina’s most legendary haunted attractions. This year, there are some amazing new sets, including a corn maze. Why to Visit
At most haunted attractions, you enter a building, walk through it, and eventually walk back outside. But not here. Spookywoods is completely different. You’re entering an entire Halloween destination spread across more than 85 acres, featuring three massive haunted worlds, woods, roads, structures, water, farmland, live environments, and hundreds of moving parts designed to keep you guessing. And the experience starts before you even enter the first haunted world.
The New Club Spooky
Club Spooky is both amazing and terrifying. With character actors roaming to scare you, just waiting to go through the haunt will have you screaming. One of my favorite things about Kersey Valley Spookywoods is that the night doesn’t begin when the scares do. At Club Spooky, you can join the virtual queue, grab something to eat, get a drink, meet the monsters, take photos, and enjoy live entertainment while you wait for the text that starts your journey. It’s a great way to enjoy the night while you wait for your fright.
And yes, there’s a live band! PAGEANT brings good old-fashioned rock and roll to the midway, making Club Spooky feel like a Halloween party before the night takes a very dark turn. They are so good! It’s the perfect place to hang out and spend your Halloween-filled night.
More Than 85 Acres of Halloween
Here, the experience is massive. This is where Spookywoods really separates itself from a traditional haunted house. We’re talking more than 85 acres of haunted worlds, woods, roads, structures, water, farmland, wagons, and live environments. Instead of walking into one building and moving from room to room, you’re traveling through an entire destination. It took us nearly an hour to complete, and it’s a great value for the experience you get. This is probably the biggest thing I want people to understand before visiting Kersey Valley Spookywoods: You are not going through one haunted house. You are experiencing three separate haunted worlds, each designed to feel like its own journey.
Spooky Storytelling at its Finest
Every environment feels intentionally designed to pull you further into the story. The lighting, sound, costumes, props, special effects, scenery, and actors all work together to create an experience that feels completely immersive. You aren’t just walking through a decorated space. You feel like you’ve stepped into another world. One of my favorite parts of Kersey Valley Spookywoods is the ICONS section. If you love classic horror, this is the part you’re going to want to experience. Horror legends like Freddy, Jason, and Ghostface are lurking in the shadows, bringing some seriously recognizable nightmares to life.
The Magic Behind the Mayhem
What makes Kersey Valley Spookywoods stand out isn’t just the scares. The sets are incredibly immersive. The characters are fully committed. The environments are packed with detail. And every element works together to make you feel like you’ve stepped straight into a horror movie.
