Los Angeles, the City of Angels! Whether you’re visiting for a vacation, catching a connecting flight, or heading into town for a special event, finding the right hotel can make a big difference in your trip. During our October 2026 trip, we spent two nights at Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX, and it turned out to be a great place to stay. With its close proximity to the airport, complimentary airport shuttle, beautifully renovated guest rooms, and several dining options right inside the hotel, it checked quite a few boxes for us.
So, why stay here? Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX has transformed into a modern, stylish retreat that offers much more than your typical airport hotel. It’s stunning, with updated rooms and comfortable beds, and a variety of restaurants and on-site amenities. Truthfully, there was a lot to love about this property, and it felt like a hotel with true hospitality, not your typical airport hotel. Here’s everything you should know about staying at Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX.
Why the Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX
Located at 5985 W. Century Boulevard in Los Angeles’ Westchester neighborhood, Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX is just under a mile from LAX, making it a convenient home base whether you’re kicking off a West Coast getaway like we were, squeezing in a quick overnight stay, or getting some rest before an early morning flight.
But what makes this hotel stand out is that it’s so much more than just a place to sleep near the airport. Following an impressive $42 million transformation, the property has been completely refreshed with modern guest rooms, a bright and welcoming lobby, 14,000 square feet of updated event space, and four different dining concepts. Everywhere you look, there are little touches that make the experience feel more elevated and thoughtfully put together.
One thing that really stood out to us was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating throughout our stay. I even managed to forget a few travel essentials, including a toothbrush and razor, but the team was happy to help make sure I had everything I needed. It’s those little details that can make such a difference when you’re away from home.
Rather than feeling like your typical airport hotel, Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX has a fresh, modern feel that makes you actually want to spend a little time enjoying the property. Between the on-site dining options, comfortable guest rooms, and thoughtful amenities that make it easy to unwind and stay entertained, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Whether you’re in town for a quick overnight or using it as your starting point for exploring Los Angeles, it’s a hotel that makes the travel experience feel just a little easier and more enjoyable.
Complimentary 24-Hour Airport Shuttle
Hands down, one of the ultimate perks of staying at Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX is its complimentary, around-the-clock airport shuttle! I loved this so much. Running 24/7, this convenient service is a total lifesaver whether you’re arriving on a midnight red-eye or heading out for an ultra-early flight. Having a stress-free ride ready to go makes all the difference. When we arrived, we only waited about 15 minutes for pickup, and when leaving, it was less than a 20-minute ride due to traffic to the airport terminal.
I think we both loved not having to worry about arranging rideshares, dealing with transportation costs, or figuring out how to get to and from the airport. I can’t stress this enough: it’s a game-changing amenity that makes your stay so much easier. If convenience is at the top of your hotel wishlist, this is definitely one of the biggest reasons to consider Sonesta LAX.
Guest Rooms at Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX
The guest rooms have also been completely renovated, and this is where the transformation really shines. They’re spacious, beautifully updated, and have a fresh, modern feel, with custom hardwood finishes, updated furnishings, and stylish interiors throughout. We also had the chance to peek inside one of the suites, and I was seriously impressed. If you’re traveling with a larger group or planning something special, like a wedding, I would definitely recommend looking into one of these accommodations.
We stayed in a standard room with a king-size bed, and it was exactly what we needed after a long day of traveling and exploring. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room had plenty of space to relax and settle in. One little detail I especially appreciated was the bathroom lighting (because good lighting is always a must for my girlies!). The bathroom also came stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, so you don’t have to worry about packing every little essential. I also loved having a Nespresso machine in our room! As someone who loves coffee (and has a Nespresso machine at home), this was such a nice touch. It’s the little things!
More To Enjoy at Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX
Another thing that surprised me was just how quiet the rooms were. When you’re staying less than a mile from one of the busiest airports in the world, you might expect to hear planes flying overhead all night. I definitely wondered about that before checking in. But honestly, we barely noticed any airport noise. The room was peaceful, and we had no trouble relaxing and getting a good night’s sleep.
We were also lucky enough to stay on the Executive Floor, which came with a pretty fun bonus: a front-row seat to all the airport action! Our window overlooked the runways, so we could watch planes taking off and landing throughout the day. If you enjoy a little plane spotting as I do, this was such a cool perk. I loved having that view right from our room!
Overall, I was really impressed with the renovated accommodations. They’re stylish, comfortable, and have all those little touches that make a hotel stay feel special. Whether you’re in LA for one night, a few days, or traveling with a group, Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX makes it easy to feel right at home.
Hotel Amenities at Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX
One thing that really stood out to me about Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX was just how much the property has to offer without ever needing to leave the hotel. This is a big plus, especially if you are staying at the hotel for work travel or after a long day of traveling. After being on the go, sometimes the last thing you want to do is get back in the car and head somewhere else. Having so many amenities conveniently located right on-site makes such a difference. Some of the amenities available at the property include:
- Multiple on-site restaurants and dining options
- Outdoor heated swimming pool
- 24-hour fitness center
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- Business center
- Laundry and dry-cleaning services
- In-room dining
- On-site parking options
What I especially loved was that everything in the hotel was that all the renovations feel fresh, modern, and inviting. It’s not just about having these features available; it’s about having spaces that actually make you want to take advantage of them. You can spend some time lounging by the pool, squeeze in a workout, grab a bite to eat, or order room service and enjoy a relaxing night in. I always appreciate a hotel that makes it easy to do a little bit of everything without having to plan around transportation or venture off the property. It’s those added conveniences that can really elevate an otherwise quick airport stay into a much more enjoyable hotel experience.
Restaurants at Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX
One of the things that pleasantly surprised us about Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX was the dining scene. Unlike many airport hotels where food can feel like an afterthought, this hotel offers several dining options that are genuinely worth checking out. Whether you’re in the mood for a sit-down meal or something quick between your activities, there’s something for just about every craving.
And here’s something you might not expect: People actually visit this hotel specifically for the sushi! That’s right! Yokoso Sushi Bar has become a destination in its own right, making it worth a stop even if you aren’t staying at the hotel. It’s a fun little discovery and one of the things that makes this property stand out from your typical airport stay. From casual bites to a proper dinner, here are some of the dining spots you can look forward to during your stay at Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX.
Century Taproom
Century Taproom ended up being our dinner spot both nights of our stay! We liked it so much the first night that we decided to come back again. They also had a great special starting at just $18, which made it even better.
This taproom is a casual restaurant with a bar, a laid-back feel, and a menu with plenty to choose from. They have burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, salads, pasta, and more. They also have a good selection of beers and other drinks. We ordered the delicious tuna nachos followed by personal pizzas for each of us. The pizzas are made in their brick oven, and they were so tasty. I also couldn’t leave without trying dessert, so I went with the crème brûlée. Always save a little room for dessert, right?
Honestly, having Century Taproom right inside the hotel was such a perk. After a long day of traveling or being out and about in Los Angeles, it was nice not having to get back in the car or figure out where to go for dinner. They also had coasters you could color, which was a fun little perk. They also have outdoor seating if you’d rather eat outside. I always appreciate when a hotel has a few good dining options on-site, especially when you’re only there for a couple of nights. It’s just one less thing to think about when planning your evening!
Yokoso Sushi Bar
I was so sad this wasn’t open during our stay, but if you’re in the mood for amazing sushi, Yokoso Sushi Bar is it. This spot offers Japanese-inspired dining with sushi and other selections. As I mentioned earlier, this restaurant has quite the reputation, and people even visit the hotel specifically for the sushi! I love finding dining spots that are worth visiting even if you’re not staying at the hotel, and this is one I’d keep in mind if you’re looking for sushi near LAX. It’s open on certain days, so check before you go, and sometimes they even teach sushi-making classes!
Boulevard Market Café
Convenience is key when traveling, and sometimes you just need a quick coffee and something to eat before heading out for the day. The Boulevard Market Café is a convenient option for coffee, pastries, sandwiches, salads, and grab-and-go items. We stopped here for breakfast before heading out to the museums, and it was perfect for a quick bite. I also loved their pumpkin spice latte! If you don’t have time for a full sit-down breakfast, this is a great option for grabbing something before starting your day.
The Landing Restaurant
The Landing Restaurant is another dining option at the hotel, offering breakfast selections to help get your morning started. I love having different dining options available at a hotel, especially when traveling. Not everyone wants to search for a nearby restaurant first thing in the morning, and having breakfast right downstairs makes things so much easier. Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee or a more traditional breakfast, having options right inside the hotel is always a plus. We didn’t have time to try this location out, but I asked some guests, and they said it was good eating!
Things to Do Near Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX
Although the hotel’s location is especially convenient for airport travelers, there are also several popular destinations and attractions within driving distance. During our stay, we visited the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Both were convenient drives from the hotel, and our Uber rides were under $35 on the days we visited. If you’re planning a trip to Los Angeles, there are plenty of fun places to explore in LA while using this hotel as your home base. Here are some other popular destinations to keep in mind:
- SoFi Stadium
- Kia Forum
- Intuit Dome
- Manhattan Beach
- Venice Beach

The renovation is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and I was genuinely impressed by the variety of dining options available throughout the property. We especially loved having Century Taproom right downstairs, and the ability to enjoy dinner both nights without having to leave the hotel was such a nice perk.
I also appreciated the little details, from the cozy Sonesta robes and comfortable beds to watching airplanes take off and land from our Executive Floor room. These are the kinds of things that make a hotel stay memorable! Of course, being less than a mile from LAX and having a complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle is another huge bonus.
