If you think you’ve seen scary…think again. This year’s Kersey Valley Spooky Woods will make your nightmares jealous. Tucked away in Archdale, North Carolina, this legendary haunt transforms the quiet countryside into a twisted maze of monsters, fog, and spine-tingling screams. For over four decades, Spooky Woods has terrified visitors with movie-quality sets, immersive storytelling, and some of the most talented scare actors in the business. I had the haunting pleasure of attending Media Night 2025 with my fiancé and brothers-in-law, and let me tell you, it was wickedly good. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot, we knew we were in for a night of chaos, jump scares, and pure Halloween magic.
Why Kersey Valley Spooky Woods is a Must-See
I’ve been to plenty of haunted attractions, but Kersey Valley Spooky Woods never disappoints. Since 2019, we have been going, and this year marks their 41st season of screams. To be brutally honest, they’ve raised the bar with jaw-dropping new sets, chilling soundscapes, and creative new storylines that blur the line between fantasy and fear.
The atmosphere hits you the second you arrive, flashing lights, swirling fog, creepy music, and monsters roaming the midway ready to pounce for selfies (and maybe your soul). We grabbed a few photos, screamed a little, and of course, stopped by the hot cider and donut station for a sugar rush before the terror began. As media guests, we had VIP entry, but if you’re visiting on a regular night, upgrade to Immediate Access or VIP tickets—trust me, it’s worth it.
Make Way…Here Comes the ICONS
One of my favorite parts? The ICONS section features horror legends like Freddy, Jason, and Ghostface lurking in every shadow. You even take a haunted tractor ride to reach it (and let’s just say the ride alone is its own nightmare fuel). Once you arrive, it’s nonstop scares—chainsaws, fog, and all the cinematic gore you can handle. I won’t spoil every detail, but let’s just say… expect the unexpected.

What makes Spooky Woods stand out isn’t just the scares, it’s the artistry. Every corner is crafted with cinematic precision, from the lighting to the costumes. You can tell the creators pour their hearts (and maybe a few screams) into every inch of the experience. I seriously can not say this enough, but Tony, the owner, delivers year after year an amazing experience. This event is truly the best thing to do during the Halloween season.
