Sometimes you need to spice up a Thursday. Thanks to Carowinds, my day today was filled with adrenaline and pure joy as I tested out the new Copperhead Strike double-launch coaster. This is Carolina’s very first double-launch coaster and officially opens up to the public on March 23rd, 2019. Myself and my partner in crime Mark Borja were invited to come to the coasters media day and were able to experience the new immersive environment and of course RIDE THE COASTER!
Mark and I rode in the front row on the coaster and right off the bat, the coaster takes you on a 360-degree twist before your first launch. One of the things I loved was how you a submerged in the culture of the Blue Ridge Mountains before you launch into the first loop.
There was a fun little video playing and animatronic chickens off to the side that you can see in the video below. The ride its self was very smooth and there was no headbanging like some coasters leave you with. The second launch is about halfway through the ride and you experience a hang time style loop that I must admit…left me a little speechless.
The whole ride itself is about two minutes and fifty seconds and by the end of the ride, both of us were laughing, smiling, and tearing all at once.
