Stomach Cancer Awareness Month: Stairway’s for a Cure Fundraiser

Stomach Cancer Awareness Month: Stairway’s for a Cure Fundraiser

November is Stomach Cancer Awareness Month and I take this time to remember my mother and her fight with the disease.

The American Cancer Society estimates for stomach cancer in the United States for 2017 about 28,000 cases of stomach cancer will be diagnosed (17,750 in men and 10,250 in women) and about 10,960 people will die from this type of cancer (6,720 men and 4,240 women). I decided to share with people my mother’s story and create a month-long fundraiser to help raise awareness, research and put an end to this terrible disease.

It will be four years since my mother past away this upcoming February, but each day it feels like it was yesterday. Not a day goes by where I do not think about her and miss her, which is why it’s so important to be to help raise awareness. Just earlier this year in August, I decided to utilize the Facebook Fundraiser feature and organized a fund in honor of my birthday and my mother’s birthday (Both in August) which lasted two weeks for the No Stomach For Cancer Foundation. Thanks to all of you, we raised $500! My goal for this year’s November fundraiser is to double it. ($1,000 here we come)

Stomach Cancer is a silent killer and it needs to be stopped for good. This disease took my mom’s life and if there is one thing I can do in honor of her, it helps make sure it doesn’t happen again. This will be my third year organizing the fundraiser, Stairways for a Cure, which is in honor of my mother and will for November donate the proceeds to the organization, No Stomach for Cancer. I ask you all to donate in honor of your friends, family, and strangers who may cross your path to help find a cure to stop Stomach Cancer once and for all.

DONATE HERE!

Join me on the stairway to finding a cure and be sure to wear periwinkle in honor of Stomach Cancer Awareness this month. My family and so many other families across the world have lost someone they have loved to Stomach Cancer but by sharing our loved one’s stories we can all be a part of the change and do something that counts.

Please feel free to share your story by email or post in the comments below.

This Fundraiser has ended but thanks to you all, we have raised a total of $375 for the organization No Stomach for Cancer.

With Love,

Lex Paige
