Popbar Charlotte is the Perfect Summer Sweet-Spot!

Popbar Charlotte is the Perfect Summer Sweet-Spot!

Popbar is one of the sweetest new spots you need to try this Summer! How do I know? Well, I tried it myself for the first time this week and if you love healthy-tasty treats as I do, prepare yourself because you are about to become obsessed!

Located on North Davison street in the heart of NoDa, Popbar offers handmade gelato, sorbet, and yogurt made with all-natural ingredients. By blending authenticity with innovation, Popbar serves its gelato on a stick, making it customizable, easier to eat, and kid-friendly.

Inside Popbar Charlotte

Open for a year and a half now, the Popbar NoDa location is owned and operated by the brilliant and creative Kia Lyons and her husband Clarence who welcomed me to their establishment to get the inside scoop for all of you!

With an adorable storefront with an eye-catching purple wall, my sidekick Taylor was both already impressed before we even stepped into the dessert bar. After meeting Kia and telling her we were both Popbar virgins, she told us that “90% of the people who walk in are almost always first-time Popbar customers and always greeted with a smile when they walk in.” This couldn’t have been more true, because the staff was as sweet as the treats they offered and certainly made us feel welcomed to the Popbar family!

The Lex Paige Reaction

Priced between $3.99 and higher, you can create your own pop however you like with the option of three different pop styles, five different chocolates, and seven toppings. With a choice of vegan sorbet fruit-based pops, Italian-style gelato pops, and yogurt pops; you may need to brace yourself because the saying “kid in a candy store” is exactly how you will be feeling when you “pop” into this shop.

Taylor and I both decided to get different treats so we could try both. So to make it simple, you pick a pop, pick the topping and you’re done! Since we were both Popbar virgins though, thankfully Kia helped us with the perfect topping pairs for our pop selections. We decided to go the sorbet route and we got one strawberry sorbet covered with half dark chocolate drilled on the other side with white chocolate and covered with a side of nuts and one mango sorbet drizzled with white and dark chocolate all over.

The result? They both were DELICIOUS! Not only were these Popbars aesthetically adorable and selfie-worthy (Proof Below) but the way the toppings blend with the sorbet just melted perfectly in your mouth. As we walked around NoDa enjoying the scenery and our pops, we both really appreciated the drip covers that come with the pops as well because let’s be real people, any frozen treat in the Charlotte heat can be messy!

At Popbar, the team truly does pride themselves on ensuring flavor in every bite and on providing you with an eventful, personalized, and memorable experience on each visit. Everything is gluten-free, so you don’t get that icky feeling when you eat too much ice cream, and it’s great for those of you who are health conscious but still want to enjoy something sweet. Overall, I 100% recommend taking a drive down to NoDa to try out Popbar Charlotte and enjoy gelato, sorbet, or a yogurt treat in a new, fun, and delicious way! Thanks for having me Kia, we can’t wait to come back!

With Love,

Lex Paige
