Exploring North Carolina: A Day Trip to Animal Edventures Sanctuary

I love animals and I absolutely love any type of experience where I can get up close and personal with them. One of my newest discoveries where this was all possible was a local North Carolina animal rescue sanctuary called Animal Edventures Sanctuary.

My partner in crime Ethan and I visited the sanctuary this past weekend for a magical little day trip and when we arrived some friendly Basset hounds and a pair of playful kangaroos greeted us. I absolutely loved watching and being able to interact with the kangaroos at the sanctuary which was unlike anything I have ever experienced before. As the employees told us they loved being naughty (Eating the flowers and digging everywhere) these animals were friendly and being able to pet their super soft coats was a real treat. After obsessing over them, we ventured off to through the rest of the park, seeing a friendly camel, hungry pigs, and even played monkey see monkey do with Teddy the Capuchin Monkey.

Two of my other favorite animals at the sanctuary were a little brown lemur named Monroe and a badger named Fenwick McBane. Both the animals were in their cages so you couldn’t touch them, however, they were active, friendly, and even responsive to us calling their names.

Some of the other animals you can see when visiting are foxes, bunnies, bats, a kookaburra, a sloth, peacocks, emus, tortoises, and even a whole house full of exotic birds. (You can see a full list HEREThe staff was super helpful with answering all our questions about the animals and they even had an adorable gift shop offering lotions, sage, stuffed animals, and other natural products available for purchase.

We got a punch card on our way out so we will definitely be back! With no reservations necessary Wednesday through Sunday and open 11 am to 4 pm, if you are ever in the area I definitely suggest paying it a visit! It costs only $10 per person to visit and extras like feeding the sloth Betsy, a pasture tour, or even feeding Teddy, are available for only a few dollars more.

You can follow Animal Edventures Sanctuary on Facebook and be sure to visit their website by clicking HERE!

With Love,
