The Experience
I recently had the opportunity to enjoy a summer dinner at Whiskey Kitchen, and it was everything you’d hope for from a night out: great food, good vibes, and impressive cocktails. Whiskey Kitchen is a local favorite for a reason. Their menu features a variety of made-from-scratch, Southern-inspired dishes, and their whiskey collection is enormous—think wall-of-whiskey enormous.
We started with the Botanist Cocktail and The Glasgow Smile, both of which were fantastic. They also offer refreshing summer drinks that are tropical and perfect for sipping slowly on their breezy outdoor patio. For an appetizer, we ordered the Cracklin’ Biscuits. These buttermilk biscuits with pork cracklin’ and smoked cream cheese were amazing, and two just wasn’t enough!
For our meal, I ordered the Ashe & Co. Burger, a must-try for any true burger lover. It was recently featured in Raleigh Magazine’s Best Burgers issue, and after just one bite, you’ll understand why. The burger is juicy, flavorful, and infused with Southern flair. I was thoroughly impressed, and the fries were excellent as well!
If you’re looking for something lighter, I recommend trying the new Garden Grove salad, which is a seasonal highlight. It’s fresh, crisp, and bursting with flavor. Ethan chose the shrimp and grits made with North Carolina shrimp, and he said it was cooked to perfection. Don’t forget to try the shoofly pie for dessert; it’s delightful, with a sweet, melt-in-your-mouth quality. I paired it with an espresso martini, making it a great way to end an already amazing dinner and night.
