5 Netflix Original Films You Need to See

Netflix has really outdone itself lately. Even with their already extensive streaming library, they have blessed us with adding EVEN MORE. Netflix now produces original movies that in my opinion, are better than the flicks being released on the big screen.

Featuring a wide array of complex and diverse storylines, upcoming actors and high-quality cinematography, Netflix’s original movies are raising the bar in the film industry. So…I felt it was necessary to share with you all my top 5 picks from the Netflix original film revolution. So grab your popcorn, maybe a beer and sit back, relax and enjoy the magic of a Netflix original film.

1.Death Note– If you like horror movies and thrillers, watch this film! I was a bit skeptical at first since it is an American adaptation of the famous Japanese anime and manga, this film takes you on the journey of a young boy who finds a supernatural notebook and begins killing those he deems unworthy of life. Even if you are not a big anime fan (Like Me) you can enjoy the twisted storyline and complexity of this film.

2. Burning Sands– I was in a sorority and though I never did experience hazing, I know my fellow Greek Life fraternity members did. This film is a classic tale of fraternity hazing gone awry and a freshman torn between saying nothing or saying something. It’s pretty hard to watch at some parts, so brace yourself, but it definitely is worth watching as it sheds light on important Greek Life issues.

3. To The Bone– Alright, this one is probably the most painful to get through for me because of how apparent it is in today’s society and young girls, but Netflix knocked it out of the park worth this film. Following the life of Ellen, a 20-year-old young woman with anorexia nervosa, once you watch this film you will realize how precious life truly is. (If you haven’t discovered that already)

4. iBoy– I love Game of Thrones and I love me some Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) which lead me to this film. Taking you on the journey of a boy named Tom who develops superpowers after a violent encounter with local thugs leaves fragments of his shattered smartphone embedded in his brain, this film is full of revenge, action, and the classic damsel in distress.

5. Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie– My girl Nicky Nichols from Orange is the New Black is in this one (Love Her) and if you enjoy detective movies with a side of humor, you’ll dig this one. Following the life of Gene Handsome, an LA homicide detective who tries to make sense of his life as he solves the crime, this film is a mystery-comedy that has a massive twist at the end.

With Love,

Lex Paige

Ohh I’m gonna watch No 5. I love her too ;-))) To the Bone I really wanna watch but I think I need to be in the “mood” to watch something sad and heavy… 1-3 sound very very not me 😀 I don’t like horror or too bloody movies 🙂
