6 Essentials to Packing a Carry On

6 Essentials to Packing a Carry On

Living in North Carolina puts me at around an 11-hour driving distance from the rest of my family. This has allowed me to become very familiar with the best airline sites, safety procedures, and my topic of today packing efficiently.

I just want to start off by being completely honest with not only my readers but with myself; I HATE PACKING. Partly because I’m a perfectionist and have a hard time parting with material things. I always overpack, because I have this mentality that I may potentially need my fur vest I never wear on a regular basis or my whole jewelry box, despite the fact I wear the same earrings every day with a black hairband on my wrist.

Despite my OCD, I’ve learned to cope with my issue on packing, because I do live on a college budget, and nowadays airlines charge up to 50$ to check in one bag! So, I have taught myself to pack rationally, and I’m going to share my 6 essentials to pack a carry on with you.

“THE 6 ESSENTIALS TO PACKING A CARRY ON”

  1. UNDERWEAR CAN BE WASHED
I have come to find that you only need one pair of underwear. Or maybe two. Let’s go with two. Because these things can be washed. If you’re flying home or sh*t even to a hotel, these places have washers and dryers. Some even do it for free. This gives you some extra space in your carry on so you can focus on more important aspects of clothing, like your fur vest. You can also disregard this first tip, and go commando. That works too!
  2. NO SHOES NO PROBLEM
Pick a solid pair of shoes that you can incorporate into every outfit you are going to pack with you. You can also borrow someone else’s shoes, just make sure you know them.
  3. BLACK OR WHITE
Trust me, include a black or a white shirt or pants. They go with everything. So when you decide to listen to the devil on your shoulder and pack that unnecessary pair of disco pants because they look cool, remember you can potentially wear them now because you packed a black or white top to go with them. I’ve done this before, so I feel you if you’re that person.
  4. GUM IS GREAT
You don’t need a toothbrush. Buy some mint gum, it will clean your teeth. Toothbrush takes up too much space. If you bring a toothbrush you’re going to have to bring a case and toothpaste. Yes, this is gross, but you gotta economize.
  5. JEANS SAVE LIVES
If you pack one pair of jeans, of course, your favorite ones, you’ll be set. This saves room for loads of tops so you can have a different outfit every day.
  6. Makeup MAKES YOU
Since you’re going to be limited to your outfit choices, bring some makeup. This will help you spice up your look every day, so make sure you bring some vibrant eye shadow and glitter because if your face looks good, sh*t no one’s going to even be looking at your outfit!

With Love,
