Why I Am Obsessed with Panic! At The Disco and Brendon Urie

If you didn’t already know, Panic! At The Disco released its fifth album, “Death Of A Bachelor” this month and it’s simply amazing. The album features eleven new songs totaling thirty-six minutes of pure awesomeness.

Since 2004, I have been a devoted fan of Panic! At The Disco. For some reason, I have always found the band’s sound empowering yet melancholic to my ears. After eleven years, PATD Has been the one unfailing band I have listened to, as well as providing me with the one consistent male relationship I have held onto. That being, my undying love for the one and only Brendon Urie.

To refresh your memory, Brendon Urie is the charming, witty, undoubtedly talented lead vocalist of the band Panic! At The Disco. Brendon, who has been my fantasy –celebrity crush since I was eleven (Sweet) has the ability to make people feel like someone understands them through the use of this voice and the kick-ass lyrics. It’s amazing. One of the most attractive qualities, besides his unique voice that is a mix of Freddy Mercury and Jesus. (I’m assuming Jesus had a great voice)

Anyway, I think the main reason I adore PATD and Brendon Urie is that their persona and songs have always been relating-able to me. I identify myself as unusual and strange, which frankly this quirky fun-loving group of misfits is. There has been a lot of shit I’ve had to deal with at a young age, parents losing their jobs, my mother getting cancer, my mother passing away from cancer. But thankfully through the shit, I was able to keep my head up and my spirits high thanks to the power of PATD’s music. Though that sounds silly, it’s true.

The lyrics convey such a deeper meaning to me when I hear them, almost makes me feel like I’m not alone. Also, the band has a sort of dark feel to them; which if you know me I’m a very dark soul. If you ever have time, take a moment to really get to listen to the lyrics of some of the songs PATD throws out; especially within the songs, “Emperor’s New Clothes” and “Hallelujah” because you’ll get this rare, evil, kind of sexual but deep feeling once you do. Which is why again, I love them.

This Christmas, I actually was given a pillow with Brendon Urie’s face on it smoking a cigarette which I love and now cuddle with every night. Point blank, I constantly thank God for PATD and Brandon Urie…Sadly, Brendon is married and I guess I am not a homewrecker. But if you want to be best friends… totally call me.

With Love,

Lex Paige
