‘Crystal Craig’ & the ‘Catfishing’ of MY Photos!

Someone Named ‘Crystal Craig’ has been Using MY Facebook Photos & ‘Catfishing’ ME for a YEAR!

Catfish (n)- A catfish is someone who pretends to be someone they’re not using Facebook or other social media to create false identities, particularly to pursue deceptive online romances.

So if you’ve opened this article, you now are aware of an issue that I have been dealing with since October of 2014.

For starters, since October of 2014 someone has been impersonating myself and my mother under false surnames and using our personal images on the Internet as their own. This person or person (because I honestly have no idea who is doing this to me) has utilized various social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram, to attract the attention of other patrons and trick them into thinking that they are someone they are not. (AKA me/my mom)

Now you are probably wondering how the hell I discovered these profiles. Well, it’s actually a funny story.

See, I was at a friend’s house last year in October when my cousin Taylor called me and said she had something she wanted to ask me about. So, I asked her what was up, and that is when she replied this:

Hey Peanut, so Alexis- (whom is the name of her best-friend) ironic I know, received a friend request on Instagram from someone named ‘Crystal Craig’ with your photo on it.

I simply replied, “WTF?” A very reasonable response. Anyway, I told her to report it to Instagram, which we did, to try and get the account removed.

Well, this then leads me to wonder if this ‘Crystal Craig’ had any more fake accounts on me. So, like any investigator, I put on my Inspector Gadgets and started embracing my inner detective by Googling the name and my picture, and guess what…BINGO BABY! I not only found a fake Facebook, still active on myself, but also an active fake account of my mother: which was linked to the posts and photos on ‘Crystal Craig’s page. We even found posts on some person named ‘Sierra Jenkins’ Facebook tagged in family photos of our own. I swear my life is insane.

You know on a side note, though this situation really isn’t intended to be humorous, my mother, brother, and I did find the information posted on the two sites entertaining.

The sites claimed that my mother and I are from Newark, New Jersey (Eww)…my names Crystal Craig, (Porn Star Name) I’m 18…my mom’s named Lori Craig…she’s got like 7 kids and two babies…she’s a stay at home mom…honestly the whole thing kind of made us laugh. But at the time, I was just mostly pissed off. So… I sent aggravated emails, comments, and messages to the mysterious owners of these accounts…which then got myself and other close friends who were helping me…blocked.

I then resulted in contacting MTV’s Catfish the TV show, which helped me after three days of my discovery to get through to the officials at Facebook and Instagram to have the accounts “Permanently”   deactivated and removed…until now.

As I discovered today, just out of pure curiosity…this person, who I have contacted the authorities about including the police, Facebook officials, and Instagram officials, STILL CONTINUES to use my photos as their own!

Apparently, the Facebook of ‘Crystal Craig’ was reactivated and is now being once again used, since the images as you can see were posted on my Instagram account 6 weeks ago…sick. Whoever this person is, still blocks me, and quite frankly may have other accounts out there using my image for lord knows what. And you want to know what the sad part is I don’t even know if this is a male or female! Knowing my luck it’s probably a fifty-year-old man living in his mother’s basement…

I mean my mother told me I should be flattered…that it’s sad people have to result to doing things like this…but really…just live your own life people…embrace your own self.

Anyway, I decided today to write this article to actually get some answers and hopefully get my face and my mother’s face off of these imitation profiles. So, hopefully with the help of other people blocking, reporting, and explaining to this individual how wrong and disrespectful it is to basically steal someone’s identity is…well maybe then I won’t have to go another year possibly being mistaken as ‘Crystal Craig’
